Our Programs
IEC offers varied programs on English language training. All programs can be custom-designed to meet any specific needs.
General English Course (GEC)
The GEC program is our comprehensive program designed to teach communicative competence in English. Emphasis is placed on oral skills. This program is available for different groups of age from children to adults.
English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
ESP programs are training programs for professionals. They are designed for the participants who prepare for certain careers. The program covers English for Business, English for Secretary and Office Management, English for Hotel and Tourist Industry, English for Banking, English for Medical Professionals, and English for Job Seekers.
English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
This program is designed to improve the participants’ English skills in preparation of overseas study. The major focus of this program is to increase the scores of the participants in the international tests. This program covers TOEFL Preparation Course and TOEIC Preparation Course.
Our Curriculum
Aim
The IEC programs aim at training the course participants to acquire communicative competence i.e. the ability to communicate in English according to the purpose, situation and their roles in communication.
Teaching System
The teaching system applied in the classroom is based on Communicative Approach. The classroom activities are directed to acquire the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing with particular emphasis on listening and speaking.
To learn actively, the participants are engaged in a lot of small group discussions in which they can develop their fluency along with their language accuracy. In addition, they can build their self-confidence which conditions is required to accelerate the learning process.
Materials
Each program has its own materials designed to meet the needs of the course participants. All the materials are kept up to date, representing those used for actual communication. For in-house training, the program are usually tailor-made. The materials, therefore, selected to meet the course participants’ specific needs.
Teaching Staff
The teaching staff consists of qualfied teachers trained in Indonesia or overseas having at least two years experience in teaching English. Generally they graduated from Teachers’ Colleges, majoring in English language education. To support the class teaching, the co-teachers are assigned to handel co-curricular activities.
